Rosat Observations of the Galaxy Group Awm7
نویسنده
چکیده
We present results of ROSAT/PSPC and HRI observations of the AWM7 group of galaxies, which is a poor galaxy cluster and forms part of the Perseus-Pisces lament. The X-ray emission originates from intracluster gas at temperatures of 1.7 to 4.5 keV. The cluster obviously is elliptical with a position angle perpendicular to the position angle of the dominant elliptical galaxy NGC1129, which is ooset from the cluster X-ray centre by 30 kpc. The analysis of the PSPC imaging and spectral data yield a gravitational mass of 2{510 14 M within a radius of 1.2 Mpc and a cooling ow with a mass depo-sition rate of up to 60{66 M y 1 .

Comparison of Asca and Rosat Cluster Temperatures: A2256, A3558 and Awm7
We address the consistency between ASCA and ROSAT spatially-resolved cluster temperature measurements, which is of significant immediate interest given the recent ASCA reports of temperature gradients in several hot clusters. We reanalyze ROSAT PSPC data on A2256 (originally analyzed by Briel & Henry) using the newer calibration and a technique less sensitive to the calibration uncertainties. W...
متن کاملConstraining the Role of SN Ia and SN II in Galaxy Groups by Spatially Resolved Analysis of ROSAT and ASCA Observations
We present the results of modelling the distribution of gas properties in the galaxy groups HCG51, HCG62 and NGC5044, and in the poor cluster AWM7, using both ASCA SIS and ROSAT data. The spectral quality of the ASCA data allow the radial distribution in the abundances of several elements to be resolved. In all systems apart from HCG51, we see both central cooling flows, and a general decline i...

baryonic matter distribution in the large-scale structures is one of the main questions in cosmology. This distribution can provide valuable information regarding the processes of galaxy formation and evolution. On the other hand, the missing baryon problem is still under debate. One of the most important cosmological structures for studying the rate and the distribution of the baryons is gal...
متن کاملRX J 1420 . 4 + 5334 – another tidal disruption event ? ?
We have discovered a transient X-ray source, RX J1420.4+5334, which displays a ROSAT flux variation of > ∼ 150 between the ROSAT All-Sky-Survey in 1990 and a preceding pointed ROSAT observations in July 1990. Optical observations suggest a non-active galaxy as the only visible counterpart. We therefore tentatively identify RX J1420.4+5334 as a tidal disruption event in a non-active galaxy.
متن کاملStellar Populations in the Central Galaxies of Fossil Groups
It is inferred from the symmetrical and luminous X-ray emission of fossil groups that they are mature, relaxed galaxy systems. Cosmological simulations and observations focusing on their dark halo and inter-galactic medium properties confirm their early formation. Recent photometric observations suggest that, unlike the majority of non-fossil brightest group galaxies (BGGs), the central early-t...
